Mitch
Sowa
It is fitting that
the first "In the Spotlight" be dedicated to Mitch Sowa
Working on their family farm in Manchester,
NH, caring for his younger brothers, holding an outside job
since the age of 14, and attending school, left Mitch little
time to pursue music in his youth. When his father-in-law took
him under his wing and trained him as a roady for his band
"Jan Estees and the Traveling Troubadours"...a door opened up
for Mitch. After working 30 years at Modutec Inc.of
Manchester, NH (and attaining the position of Manager), plus
holding 2 night jobs and doing sound engineering on weekends,
he was ready for a change.
Mitch decided it was time to dedicate himself to his
first love, Music, despite objections from family, friends and
co-workers. With the support and help of his wife, he began
his own company, Urban Express Productions. His devotion to
the bands and "never give up attitude" are the backbone of the
company. He has Created, Managed, Promoted and Booked 10
bands, done Sound Engineering for over 2,100 performances
regionally & internationally, and proudly worked together
with his talented musicians and entertainers to attain 18
Music Awards in state, regional and national competitions.
Although Traditional Country Music is the "only music" for
him, his bands offer a wide variety of musical styles.
Having an intense love and drive to keep music "LIVE",
Mitch has traveled to over 100 cities and towns in New England
with his bands, and has also made 2 trips to South Korea, to
give moral support and entertainment to our military. He hopes
to continue to bring "a bit of America" to our troops through
music (soldiers and veterans) for as long as there is a need.
Mitch has also given much of his time and offered the
services of his bands and his sound equipment, for many non
profit charities such as Make a Wish Foundation, Cheshire
Country Riding for the Handicap Association, St Jude's
Reasearch Center for Children, Santa's Helper, Toys for Tots,
and many more. When there was money to be raised, Mitch and
his bands have been there, to participate in Benefits for
other performers, persons with serious illnesses or disasters
in their lives, and for the Town of Jaffrey, NH where he
presently resides.
He is a member of the NH Country Music Association and was
just elected to their Board of Directors for 2006-2008. He
is also a member of the MA Country Music Awards Association
and was the Chairman for his group, Cheshire Business
Bunch, which was a part of MicroCredit ( NH Community Loan
Fund Business Association ). His group received an award for
"Most Creative Loan Funding".

Toying with the
steel guitar, ham radio and remote control airplanes and sound
equipment, Mitch is an avid news buff and follower of stock
market trends. Mitch can be heard teasing his associates on a
regular basis and they "just love" to tease him back,
especially during band shows.
He brags about his business and family of talented
musicians and his step daughter Alyssa. His favorite meal is
fried eggs, home fries, toast and coffee, coffee and more
coffee, and his favorite song, which surely typifies his life,
is "My Way" by Frank Sinatra.
We Love you Mitch!!!!
